Dear Editor:
On the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 14, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 173 held its annual mid-month dinner.
It was a booming success and more peopled turned out than we ever expected.
We actually ran out of food and we offer our sincere apologies for this oversight.
We were amazed at the turnout.
Because of the overwhelming popularity of these dinners, we are going to start selling meal tickets at the canteen on the day of the event beginning at 2 p.m.
Please understand that it is very difficult to know ahead of time how much food we need to prepare. To try and correct this problem we will have 80 meal tickets to sell for each of our monthly dinners. We will prepare 80 meals.
This way, we know how much to prepare and no one will be turned away.
We hope this doesn’t deter anyone from coming out to the Legion for a great meal at a very reasonable price.
November is Remembrance Month, so the next Wednesday dinner will be held on Nov. 18.
The theme for the next dinner will be “Mexican Fiesta” and the menu will include chicken enchiladas, mild beef burritos, Mexican salad and salsa (mild and hot for those who like to torture themselves).
The cost for the dinner will remain at $7 per plate.
For more information, call the canteen at 250-495-7447.
