What have you done for the planet today?

In Oliver, a number of people took part in a community clean-up to celebrate Earth Day.

Teams were seen picking up garbage in local parks and other areas, filling refuse bags full of discarded wrappers and other junk.

Town staff organized a tree planting event in Kiwanis Park where a Golden Leaf Catalpa was planted with the help of Mayor Martin Johansen.

Sid Ruhland and family was seen cleaning up garbage along Brewery Alley, while Denise Blashko and Alicia Osland from the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce were filling a huge bin with their garbage.

The day is still young, so consider what you can do to help the earth.
