Fairview Mountain Golf Course was again at its best during the 27th annual SOSS Enrichment Fund Society Golf Tournament on April 2-3.

The course, the greens and the staff made for a fun-filled weekend for 85 players on 17 teams.

Organizers said the scramble format and the balanced teams resulted in some close games.

You could feel the excitement in the air just prior to the 11 a.m. start on Saturday. While the weather was a mixed bag, it didn’t damper anyone’s spirits. Besides, the cause was commendable in supporting local graduates with scholarships, which the Society has been doing for many years. This year the tournament had 30 corporate sponsors.

When all was tallied on Sunday, two teams took home the winning honours.

First place with a two-day score of 130 was the Cory Hilditch team of Dale Dodge, Dee Hainsworth, Wende Arnett, and Erin Gludovatz.

Finishing second with a score of 132 was the Ryan Baptiste team of Mike Johnson, Pat Batchelor, Darren Elliott and Paul Gill.

A special tribute was given in memory of SOSS Enrichment Fund Society director Lynne Smith who passed away this year.  She was an integral part of the Society and will be missed.
