A “helicopter incident” was reported at Checkmate Artisanal Winery south of Oliver this afternoon. Once on scene, emergency responders found a helicopter on its side at the edge of a vineyard on Wild Rose Street (off Road 13).
It was reported that the pilot escaped the wreckage with undetermined injuries. The helicopter was reportedly smouldering but did not catch fire. The mishap caused a fuel leak in the vineyard.
It is unknown what caused the incident.
