Oliver firefighters are currently battling a raging fire at Alpha Truss on Highway 97 north of Oliver.
Thick black smoke filled the air as flames appeared in the upper part of the old warehouse just after 4 p.m. The blaze quickly spread to the north end of the building, leaving firefighters no choice but to attempt to protect nearby structures.
The RCMP closed down Highway 97, so no traffic is being let through (as of 5 p.m.).
At one point the flames started a grass fire in the area, which firefighters also had to contend with.
Both Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls fire departments were called for mutual aid.
A cause has yet to be determined.
