Forestry (air) crews were a Godsend late this afternoon at a grass fire south of Southern Plus Feedlots on Black Sage Road.

The fire consumed a large patch of greasewood and sagebrush just north of Time Estate Winery.

Planes dropped several loads of water on the fire to stop its spread. Mutual aid from Osoyoos Fire Department helped in the efforts.

Fire crews are still on scene mopping up.

Meanwhile, a fire at Alpha Truss is still keeping Oliver firefighters busy this evening. Highway 97 traffic is being rerouted onto Leighton Crescent that comes out north at Mike’s Auto.

A plane proceeds to drop a load of water on the fire.
