Firefighters wish they could put the Fairview/White Lake Road blaze behind them, but they are still on scene chasing hot spots.
Oliver Fire Department spokesman Rob Graham said they had crews on scene last night and again today to deal with flare-ups near the Greg Norton and Joel Malcolm properties.
The fire behaviour has been unpredictable. For example, crews would be working one area, and then leave to switch teams and discover the fire burning in the same area again.
The fire burned 82 hectares of grass and brush, but is more than 80 per cent contained.
The cause hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the BC Wildfire Service suspects lightning.
Graham said it is quite possible that fire crews will be on scene for a couple of days. He recognized the Willowbrook Fire Department for its assistance, as well as forestry crews who are spread very thin right now.
Stay tuned for an interview with Greg Norton who likened the fire to a foreboding beast coming for you.
