The regional district has announced that the Area C evacuation alert in relation to the Nk’Mip Creek wildfire has been rescinded.

The evacuation level map now shows “all clear” in rural Oliver.

While the 20,000-hectare fire is still burning out of control, alerts are no longer necessary.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the fire is not expected to challenge any guards.

The slight downturn in weather helped crews make additional progress on containing the fire. Crews continue to target hot spots.

It was noted that the west side of the fire is inactive at this time, and resources have been moved to the north and east side.

There are currently 60 personnel working on the fire with help from nine pieces of heavy equipment and six helicopters.

An area restriction order is still in place, and hunters are reminded that no hunting is permitted in the Nk’Mip Creek fire zone.
