The problem of opioid addiction is very serious, not just in the Lower Mainland, but here in the Okanagan.

One of the necessities to deal with this problem is supportive recovery centres where addicts can get off drugs in a supportive environment.

Such facilities need a home in the community. They can’t be shuffled off to the industrial park or to another community. But neighbours often object.

That doesn’t mean that any objections are simply NIMBY – not in my backyard.

There are valid concerns about a current proposal and the neighbours deserve to be heard.
