Gag order of employees goes against everything democratic
The Federal Liberal Party has put a gag order in place on its public sector employees.
How does that fit within a democracy?rnAren't people allowed to speak their minds about their government regardless of who they work for?rnIn fact, we think all people should be encouraged to speak their minds.
We also can't help but question why the federal Liberal Party would even put a gag order like this in place?rnWouldn't it be in the Liberal's best interests to have its own employees talking about all of the good things happening in government? Wouldn't allowing employees to discuss at length the positive aspects of whatever department or program they happened to be involved with be a good thing for the Liberals?rnWe can't help but think that proud employees talking about their accomplishments would be about the only thing that might save the sinking Liberals.
However, maybe the Liberal Party's biggest worry is that their employees aren't happy, proud supporters of what is happening with our government? Maybe the story would be the exact opposite and therefore a gag order is the only way to keep the truth from being told.
The reality is that such a policy is undemocratic and un-Canadian. People should be allowed to speak their minds regardless of where they work.
Unfortunately, this is just another example of just how corrupting absolute power can be.
