The Osoyoos Coyotes are once again ranked third in their division after a 4-3 home-ice victory over the Golden Rockets on Saturday night.

The first period saw two power play goals for Osoyoos by Bryson Rody and Brock Marple, but it didn’t take long for Golden to tie the score.

The Rockets’ Dominic Turner excelled during a power play with only 2:15 left on the clock, and only two minutes into the next period Thomas Johnson brought Golden’s score up to two.

Coyote Milo Labonte broke the tie eight minutes later and Daelen Der’s power play goal five minutes into the last period – his third goal of the season – secured the team’s win.

Rocket Jaden Callan’s goal with less than ten minutes of game time left was an unsuccessful effort for Golden to make a comeback, despite goalie Jacob Bennett being pulled with less than one minute to go.

Coyotes goalie Bailey Monteith saved 34 of 36 shots against him, while Osoyoos slightly outshot Golden with a total of 38.

The game was Monteith’s second win of the season, and tenth played.

Up next, the Coyotes take on the Princeton Posse in Osoyoos on Wednesday.
