Osoyoos better get ready to rumble, and for a good cause.
Organized by Osoyoos’ Da Costa brothers, Tyler and Michael, Thrash Wrestling is hosting a “Brawl at the Hall” at the Osoyoos Legion next weekend, a fundraiser for the Brain Injury Society.
Complete with a lineup of matches featuring wrestlers from across the province, Tyler Da Costa says it’s a history in making.
“This is the fist time that Thrash as a promotion is going to come out to Osoyoos,” he said.
Having lived in Osoyoos his whole life, Da Costa said he’s only ever seen three wrestling events hosted in town.
He wanted to bring the sport to Osoyoos and Thrash Wrestling was the perfect partner.
“I saw a bunch of young, hungry, talented wrestlers and I thought what a great way to not only help them out but support such a good cause.”

Personally, Da Costa is most excited to see Mad Dog Marty Sugar defend his Thrash Wresting title against Slave the Homicidal Maniac, a former champion and long-time foe.
“It’s a rematch from an October event,” he said. “These two wrestlers are Okanagan legends and it’s the first time in history they’re wrestling for the Thrash title in Osoyoos – this is new ground.”
But there are plenty of other matches lined up too, including “Cougar Meat Kid” Collin Cutler and Ace Redmann Junior, and newly-crowned Okanagan/Interior champion Scarlett Black and her rival the “Vixen of Trash” Jade.
Local entertainment, including singers Bianca Berkland and Susan Dodd, is also on the schedule.
All funds raised through ticket sales and donations is going towards the Brain Injury Society, a cause that hits close to home for Tyler Da Costa, whose dad suffered a stroke four years ago.
“I’ve been to some of his group meetings that he has and I got to meet his group and I wanted to help support their activities. So I thought what a great thing to do.”
The Brawl at the Hall is on Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
There are only 120 tickets available, priced at $10 each and on sale at Home Hardware, Unity and Mills Office Productivity.
