Singer songwriter Rob Dinwoodie and his band will be bringing the magic of “Cowboy Christmas” to Venables Theatre with a mix of song, story, poetry and drama capturing the spirit of an old fashioned cowboy Christmas.

Rob Dinwoodie and band will bring you into the Christmas season by playing both new  and favourite Christmas songs and carols that you’ve grown to love.

Throughout the show, which features both new and favourite Christmas songs and carols,  a heart warming drama will unfold transporting the audience to a Christmas from the early years of BC.

Jason Armstrong, a popular Okanagan DJ, playwright and actor plays the part of Shorty Pringle of the historic Gang Ranch from the Chilcotin.  Jason depicts a cabin fevered cowboy looking for community in the winter of the late 1800’s and the Christmas that changed his view of this occasion.

Dinwoodie, a self-proclaimed “cowboy first and singer songwriter second,” has entertained audiences from around the world as he and his band Open Range have hosted the popular Cowboy Dinner Show at the Historic O’Keefe Ranch just north of Vernon.

His style ranges from pure western, country, swing with a touch of bluegrass and he and Open Range have recorded two albums and are working on their newest recording to be released in 2024.

Ken Mather,  popular historian, author and cowboy poet will bring cowboy poetry and his unique style of sharing the history of the region.  Mather has written six books on BC and has shared the stage with Dinwoodie for many years.

His poetry and stories will relive the memories of the historic Okanagan Valley and some of the favourite personalities and Christmases past.

Anjuli Dynna joins the musical troupe with her fiddle for this Christmas occasion.  She has played for the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra as well as in popular bands in the valley and will delight the audience with her mastery of the violin as she both accompanies and plays some of the old time favourite Christmas songs.

“Cowboy Christmas is sure to bring back fond memories of Christmas and is sure to be the highlight of your family’s Christmas season,” Dinwoodie said.
