A motion before Osoyoos Town Council received support for a Development Permit for the construction of a two storey self-storage facility at 5816 51st Street.

The project is already consistent with the current zoning, but when the proposed building was designed the plan was for one and a half storeys. The report notes that it has been determined a second floor is needed to “make the project viable” and was therefore seeking council’s support.

It was discussed in the meeting that the height of the second floor will only be half a storey taller than the original plan.

Councillor King asked if the second story would be a nuisance for any houses nearby. Gina MacKay, Director of Planning and Development responded the notice has been posted for the project for a while and has received no feedback or complaints.
