Rural residents to get information soon

Osoyoos residents in the rural areas considered for boundary expansion will soon be receiving information packages, along with information and documentation on the petition process.
Town Council, the CAO and a consultant are meeting with Ministry Staff at the UBCM Convention at the end of this month. They will be discussing the timing issues of the project, as well as opportunities for funding assistance to extend services.
Council will issue a press release simultaneously with information packages being distributed, to advise the greater community of the progress of the Boundary Expansion Project over the course of the coming year.
The boundary extension study objectives were to determine the impacts boundary expansion would have on the proposed expansion areas, to assess the impacts on the town's existing infrastructure, and to inform and consult with affected residents and property owners.
The proposed areas are adjacent to the town boundaries and include: Northwest – Lacey Point to Willow Beach along Osoyoos Lake; Southwest – Haynes Point to the U.S. Border; Northeast – a number of properties adjacent to Lakeshore Drive; Southeast – includes the East Bench neighbourhood as well as Lakeshore Drive extension to the U.S. Border; Kruger Mountain – majority of lands are Crown owned (some have mineral claims).
