The issue confronting Boundary Similkameen is how to deal with responsible growth.
Boundary Similkameen, and British Columbia as a whole, has to confront the ways in which we can continue to grow populations, industries, and infrastructure, while making sure that we recognize and protect traditional areas, practices, and ways of life.
Whether we are talking about the proposal of a national park, and the consideration of ranchers concerns, or the development of new regulations to better aid in the growth of our local wine industry, it is my position, and the position of the B.C. Liberals that it is important to insure a strong economy and a secure tomorrow.
The only way we can do this is by bringing all stakeholders to the table and attempting to accommodate all viewpoints so that we can grow as one region.
In the past four years, there has been a significant push by the B.C. Liberal Okanagan Caucus to improve and increase the capacity of the Highway 97 connection between the border and the Trans Canada Highway.
As a member of that group of hard working MLA’s I would continue with that work, representing the interior, on a vital infrastructure project that will help grow the entire economy of this region.
This highway expansion is symbolic of the kind of responsible growth the B.C. Liberals are focused on, growing our economy and reducing our debt with fully costed, well-planned initiatives. Whether by increasing tourism, allowing the shipping of fruit, wines, or wood products, this region will benefit from a completed highway expansion.
With three terms as Mayor of Oliver, a history of service as Town Councilor, and on the British Columbia Round Table for Small Business, I am a woman who has worked and lived in the Oliver area for decades, I have raised a family, and have just welcomed my fourth grandchild into the world.
My attachment to this community runs deep, and so does my commitment to service.
I believe that the B.C. Liberals will be able to continue to do great work for the people of Boundary Similkameen as they have in the past.
My years of skills earned from serving in government, my hard work and dedication in running successful small businesses, and my attachment to this community from having raised a family here, will drive me to be the best possible representative for Boundary Similkameen.
Growing the economy, and making a debt free B.C. is the aim of the B.C. Liberal Party. It isn’t an easy job, but it’s a job that needs doing, so I hope that on May 14, you will consider me, to be your representative in Victoria.
