Area 27 officials are quite strict when it comes to noise on the track.

That was evident on Saturday when the motorsports club hosted HardNoX Track Dayz for super bikes.

Director of Marketing Rob Darlington told the riders that their machines were not allowed to exceed 103 decibels.

“This is a good neighbour thing,” Darlington said, noting Area 27 (through the Town) has been getting some emails regarding noise.

“We have to be a good neighbour. We have to do everything we possibly can to keep the sound down,” he told the participants.

Darlington added that track officials would be monitoring the riders.

“You get one warning. If you’re flagged twice, your day is done.”

Noise monitoring aside, Area 27 president Bill Drossos said the HardNoX event is another example of how the track enhances the local economy. He noted the participants stayed in the Oliver area for a couple of days.
