Shouts and honking could be heard in downtown Oliver this morning as approximately 100 people gathered to protest the COVID-19 vaccination mandates in Canada.

Children and adults lined Main Street at Fairview Road while carrying signs, some of which read: “I call my own shots” and “Freedom from medical facism!”

One woman who commented on the rally said it wasn’t about anti-vaccination but rather their rights to choose a vaccine and not be threatened with losing their jobs. “It’s about our freedoms and choices,” said said.

Another rally supporter mirrored these comments, saying they are anti-mandators promoting their right to choose whether they get the vaccine or not.

One man was seen entering the traffic stream trying to hand out printed material, while others shouted pro-choice sentiments. Nobody was wearing a mask or social distancing during the event.
