A 31-year-old Keremeos man who stole mail from a number of Oliver residents has been sentenced to time served – 270 days in jail.
Michael Minchau was handed the sentence by Judge Meg Shaw in Penticton court last week.
Court heard that Minchau became addicted to crystal meth and began stealing cheques from mailboxes in Oliver, Keremeos and Penticton in early 2014.
Minchau and a women were apprehended in Olalla reportedly stealing licence plates from a vehicle.
In court, Minchau apologized to all of the people who were victims of his crimes.
Although he has no more jail time, he faces two years of probation and must pay $2,000 in victim fine surcharges.
