A 22-year-old Oliver woman has been sentenced to 58 days in jail for hitting another woman with a stolen car on Jan. 26.

Angelene D. Solien pleaded guilty in Penticton court on Wednesday.

Oliver RCMP reported that Solien struck a 49-year-old woman following a disagreement on Lakeshore Drive. The victim managed to escape serious injury. Both women were known to each other.

According to police, Solien fled the scene and later crashed the vehicle in Princeton, where she was apprehended by police. The vehicle had been stolen in Oliver the night before.

The court heard that Solien was high on meth while she attempted to flee to Vancouver to live a transient lifestyle in a tent city.

Judge Michelle Daneliuk said it was very fortunate there were no serious injuries in this “dangerous” incident.

In addition to two months in jail, Solien must also serve 12 months of probation.
