The second Osoyoos drag racing event of the season was held Sunday, June 8 at the airport with 216 separate drag races and 47 cars.

The races are organized by the Wine Country Racing Association, which hosts five events at the airport each season.

Street cars, designated drag cars — some of them super fast — and dragsters, large and small were on the menu for Sunday’s races.

Veteran fans educated newcomers on the basics of drag racing in the grandstands. A 50/50 draw netted its winner nearly $400.

Okanagan Mountain Helicopters made a showing, topping the fans’ experience off by offering helicopter rides.
