Even Mother Nature likes what’s going on with the McLean Construction Charity Golf Tournament in Osoyoos.
This past Saturday, a total of 83 golfers participated in the third annual fundraising golf tournament under sunny and hot conditions at the Osoyoos Golf Club.
This year’s tournament raised about $10,000 for three regional children’s charities, including the Dance Oasis dance school in Osoyoos, Penticton BMX track and South Okanagan Minor Hockey Association.
In three short years, the McLean Construction tournament has raised close to $30,000 for children’s charities across the South Okangan, which is extremely gratifying, said Kirsten McLean, who along with her husband Len, are tournament organizers and major sponsors.
“We had an absolutely perfect day and everyone had just a wonderful time,” she said. “The amount of support we’ve received from the local community since we started this tournament three years ago has been phenomenal.”
To raise the kind of money this golf tournament has over three years, you need generous corporate sponsorship and business owners from Osoyoos, as well as across the South Okanagan stretching as far as Kelowna, have shown incredible support, said McLean.
“We’re so grateful to all of the businesses that have come on board and supported this event,” she said. “It’s just been so great and I can’t thank all of them enough for coming through.”
McLean said she has no doubt the fundraising golf tournament will continue for many years to come.
“The people in this community always come through when it’s needed and I’m so proud to call this little town my home,” she said proudly.
