Willowbrook firefighters will be enhancing their services to the community thanks to a new set of rescue tools.
Fire Chief Tony Iannella reported the department qualified for the tools (including the Jaws of Life) from the Alberta Fire Aid Society.
He noted the Society selected 13 departments throughout the country based on needs and Willowbrook was one of those fortunate to receive the tools used for auto extrication.
“This will allow us to provide greater services to our area without a tax impact to our residents,” Iannella said.
The chief stated there was an expense for new hoses and servicing of the equipment, which the department was able to pay for through its annual fundraising efforts.
The new tools will arrive by Sept. 13.
Last year the Willowbrook Volunteer Fire Department proudly added medical first responder to the services it provides. It had one of its members trained and certified as a medical first responder instructor.
“We are again proud to now add auto extrication to the list of services we provide,” Iannella said.
