The BC Wildfire Service is anticipating another challenging day of active fire behaviour and growth due to the passage of a cold front through the province.
While this weather system is forecast to bring some welcome precipitation to the north and central coast, the southern part of the province will stay mainly dry for the next 48 hours, according to the BCWS.
“The main point of concern is the expected increase in wind speeds from the southwest, switching to the north-northwest by tomorrow. These conditions, on top of a summer of cumulative extreme heat and drought across southern B.C., may challenge suppression efforts today over the next 24 hours.”
The BC Wildfire Service urges people to follow all evacuation orders and alerts put in place by your their jurisdiction.
