A pickup truck that overheated after getting stuck in a bog off Road 20 contributed to a marsh fire Saturday night.
That was the report from the Oliver Fire Department that attended the scene at approximately 9 p.m. near Dead Man’s Lake.
Media relations officer Rob Graham said they had to access the site off Aspen Road near a farm where a vehicle that was mud-bogging became stuck. While some people tried to pull it out, the vehicle overheated and caught fire, which in turn spread to a marsh area, Graham said.
He estimated the fire spread a couple hundred feet. He reported the vehicle’s fuel tank ruptured, so they had to be careful not to contaminate the lake.
The fire was eventually contained.
No injuries were reported.
