An employee of Oliver’s Public Works department hangs one of many banners heralding the upcoming Festival of the Grape, which takes place at the Oliver Community Park on October 6. The festival features a parade to honour the participating wineries, food vendors, an art walk, a grape stomp and, of course, wine tastings from 50 area wineries. The event will also include music performed by Latin jazz quintet Rumba Calzada, face painting, activity stations with games and balloons and loads of entertainment for the kids. The annual event was launched in 1997 by the South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce. The festival continues to thrive and grow each year. A record number of people, wineries and vendors are expected this year. For more information or to print a grape stomp entry form, visit www.oliverfestivalofthegrape.ca
