Oliver high school principal Marcus Toneatto is moving in a new direction to create more opportunities for student learners.
Toneatto was recently appointed as the school district’s Director of Learning and Inquiry. That means he will no longer be principal as of August 1. Taking his place will be vice-principal Tracy Harrington.
Toneatto will work closely with educators as they roll out the revised curriculum in BC.
He noted the focus will be personalized learning, adding there will be major changes in assessment practices and reporting.
“I will be working with all our educators to move learning forward in our district with a focus on utilizing the spirals of inquiry to accomplish this.”
Toneatto said he will miss being principal at Southern Okanagan Secondary School because he loves working with students.
“Although I will not be directly working with students in my new role, I hope to have a positive impact on all our students in the district through my work with administration, teachers and educational assistants.”
Toneatto said SOSS is a great school with fantastic students and amazing staff who are passionate and truly care about their students.
“Tracy Harrington will be outstanding in her new role as principal, Toneatto said.
