Thieves in Oliver have taken siphoning gas to a whole new level.
Oliver resident Cody Isted says late Friday or early Saturday morning someone drilled through his fuel tank, draining 120 litres of his fuel.
Isted, who lives on Okanagan Street, said that he was able to patch the hole in the tank on his own. Now he’s hoping that the patch works.
“It is an older vehicle, and fairly cheap to fix on my own,” he said. “If it does not work, I will be forced to replace the whole fuel tank.”
Isted reported the incident with Oliver RCMP, who told him they were increasing patrols in his area and keeping a look out for the culprit.
Cpl. Christina Tarasoff said this is the first report Oliver RCMP has received regarding a gas tank being drilled, and advised that anyone seeing anything similar call RCMP.
“We depend on the community to report any suspicious activity,” she said. “When calling in suspicious activity it is very helpful if you are able to provide clothing descriptions, direction of travel, licence plate number and/or vehicle descriptions.”
