In the Second World War, many young Canadian men went to Europe to fight, including these nine soldiers from Osoyoos. Although the people in this photo aren’t identified, it was contributed to the museum by Dorothy (Carlson) Fairbairn, whose other photos from the time included her older brother Don Carlson, who resembles the young man on the left in front. The picture information says these Osoyoos men were in the B.C. Dragoons. The date is given as “1939 or 1940.” The location is given as “England?” however the vegetation looks more Canadian. Carlson trained at Camp Borden in Ontario before being sent to Europe. One photo from 1939 said he was 16 at the time. (Osoyoos and District Museum and Archives)
