The Lake-View Cafe, where Mike’s Barber Shop is now located, used to be the Greyhound Lines stop as shown in this photo from around 1950. Frank Simister, of Penticton, the bus driver (third from left) assists passengers onto the bus for departure from Osoyoos. Next to the cafe is the dentist office, which the photo information said belonged to Dr. Leonard. However, we’re told by one local resident that Dr. Leonard was a medical doctor and the dentist here was Dr. Johnson. The car is a Mercury from around 1948. How many readers remember catching the bus here? How many didn’t know this existed? (Osoyoos and District Museum and Archives)

This week we’re introducing a new feature to the Osoyoos Times.

It’s not new really, because “The Way We Were” is all about Osoyoos in the past.

The Osoyoos Times ran historic photos of Osoyoos years ago, but the photographic collection at the  Osoyoos and District Museum and Archives has grown in recent years.

We hope this regular feature will be more than just printing photos from the museum’s collection. We’d like readers to share with us old photos of Osoyoos from your attics and some of your recollections of Osoyoos in the past.
