Lisa Ante, band instructor at Southern Okanagan Secondary School and all elementary schools in Oliver, is hosting an Honour Band weekend at Tuc El Nuit School in Oliver.
Ante, at the front of the room, has brought in band students from Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and other elementary schools to spend 24 hours learning, and preparing for a concert Saturday.
In the foreground on the trumpet is Mike Shell from Shell Shock Entertainment, the promoter who has been instrumental in bringing in acts such as Elvis, Kinda Kenny, and on May 22nd, the Canadian Crooner, Ron Boudreau, to the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver.
Shell, attending the Friday rehearsal as a clinician, also announced that he will turn over $1,000 in proceeds from the Canadian Crooner show to the band program to help keep the school music program alive.
The music students are preparing five songs, and will perform them for one and all at Tuc El Nuit School Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m.
