Thanking the Oliver Curling Club for organizing the “wonderful event” this year, Steph Jackson-Baier, speaking for the team, said “We know how much hard work goes into these events, so many hours of volunteerism.

“The ice was fabulous,” she added as she also thanked their competitors as well as Curl BC under the auspices of which the event runs.

She added that while all the members of their team curl in various configurations, “our most enjoyable event is the mixed. We all curl in many different disciplines, but we like mixed the best because we get to be together and have some fun.”

This is the second time the team has won the BC mixed championships.

Meanwhile, second place Team Buchy from the Kimberley and Kelowna Curling Clubs, composed of Tom Buchy, Kaila Buchy, Dave Stephenson and Lisa Stephenson offered their congratulations to Team Craig and similarly thanked the Oliver club for a “fantastic show”.

“The fans were great, we met a lot of new people, the ice crew was fantastic and finally, thanks to our team, I thought curling with my wife was enjoyable,” said Tom Buchy, “but you guys made it special, that’s for sure.”

The medals and trophy were presented by Ted Kane, owner of River Stone Estate Winery, part time curler and key sponsor of the curling club.
