Throughout the summer art of all kinds will be on display at the Art Gallery Osoyoos, and if you enjoy it, you can take it home with you.

The Summer Artisan Market, starting at the gallery June 1, features painters, quilters, potters, jewellers, glass artists, photographers and fibre artists.

“There are so many different artists, such a variety of art that is there. It is made for locals and tourists because they are small items that you can take along with you, or as a gift,” said Claudia Punter, Art Gallery Osoyoos curator. “Every year it’s really exciting sometimes people stand in line before they can come in.”

Some newly featured artists include a silver jeweller and an artist who paints on glass, including wine glasses.

“Which is totally great for this area,” Punter said.

The market features many smaller works of art which are easier to take home. There is a maximum of three feet of wall space, with no painting larger than that. While the names are similar, the artisan market differs from the Farmer’s Market, taking place inside the gallery, though the two markets will be running in tandem at certain points.

The summer artisan market runs from June to September, open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, throughout the month of June. In July, the artisan market is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Art Gallery Osoyoos at 8713 Main St.
