The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has advised the public that it will be conducting pile burning near Apex Mountain Resort Village and smoke may be visible in the area.
Rising temperatures and lower humidity over the next few days mark more challenging conditions from the cooler, more humid weather that kept the Keremeos Creek wildfire stable over the weekend of Aug. 13/14.
Keremeos Creek wildfire Evacuation Orders for rural areas outside of Olalla in Area G and the Village of Keremeos have been rescinded as of 2 p.m. August 11.
While steady progress is being made on the Keremeos Creek wildfire, the western flank north of Olalla continues to pose a challenge according to the B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS).
Monday saw fire crews working on guards on the northern flank of the Keremeos Creek wildfire as wind conditions have been more favourable over the weekend and should remain that way as a high pressure ridge moves in.
The Keremeos Creek wildfire which began on Friday, July 29 north of Olalla has more than quadrupled in size in one day according to the B.C. Wildfire service.
