Oliver’s community spirit shone brightly once again for the community’s 14th Annual BC Thanksgiving Food Drive with over 2,858 kg of food and more than $10,300 donated to the Oliver Food Bank.
With Food Banks struggling across the country – victims of a perfect storm of rising demand and inflationary pressures flattening donations – the Girl Guides of Osoyoos have stepped up and brought in food donations.
Locals struggling with inflationary costs and itinerant workers unable to begin picking due to cold weather delays are tapping the food bank in ever greater numbers just as donations shrink.
