Bruce Bidinoff heard his dog barking uncontrollably Thursday afternoon at his home in Casitas del Sol on the northwestern edge of Osoyoos. He tried to get the dog to stop.
He then checked to see what his dog was barking at.
“Wait a minute,” he thought to himself. “That’s a BEAR.”
The young bear — Bidinoff guesses it might only be two years old — was wandering close to homes in this neighbourhood off 115th Street.
Bidinoff grabbed his camera and carefully snapped a few shots as the bear wandered around his home and the neighbourhood. In one photo, the bear was only 10 feet from Bidinoff’s back patio, looking him in the eyes.
In one the bear appears to be trying to blend into the neighbourhood by disguising himself as a tree. Very cute!
After he got bored, the bear jumped a fence and headed back up the mountain next to Strawberry Creek Road.
Bidinoff said this is the first time in the nine years that he’s lived there that he’s seen a bear in the neighbourhood.
