The Sun Bowl Skating Club (SBSC) has returned home with some impressive results including three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals from the 2023 Okanagan Regionals hosted by the Vernon Skating Club.

The Club had 10 skaters compete in 14 events over the span of the three-day event held from Jan. 27-29.

“They had glowing results with new personal best, podium finishes, and some squeaky-clean programs,” said head coach Patricia Fortunato.

She noted that the skaters had to overcome the hurdles of new programs, new competing categories, and first-time competitions.

Patricia Fortunato, who attended in person while secondary coach Sabrina Fortunato attended virtually, said they, along with the entirety of the SBSC board “could not have been prouder.”

She also lauded Kaylee Fortunato for her first attempt in the Gold Women category.

“She has been off the ice for some time and came back with the goal to push herself past her limits, which she certainly did,” the head coach said.

“Kaylee received outstanding comments for her performance and commitment to both of her programs. Way to keep your head up throughout! A very well-done job from each of our skaters, you made your club and coaches proud once again.”
