A wildfire in the White Lake Road/Fairview area is keeping many resources busy tonight.
Oliver and Willowbrook firefighters responded to the blaze at approximately 7:30 p.m., followed by forestry crews. A large plume of smoke could be seen from the Town of Oliver as a strong wind pushed the fire south.
One fire truck was staged at Greg Norton’s residence as planes and helicopters dumped fire retardant and water on the blaze that was spreading very fast. The wind created many spot fires that created challenges for ground personnel.
One house on a ridge was threatened by flames, but firefighters were on the scene attempting to protect the structure.
It was not confirmed what caused the fire. Stay tuned for more updates.
