It may be 17 degrees in the South Okanagan valley, but it’s still hockey season – especially for the Fortune family.
Parents Tom and Teresa Fortune have three boys. All three are still involved in playoffs. all five are off to provincials this week.
With three South Okanagan Minor Hockey Association (SOMHA) teams advancing though league, then Okanagan Mainline Minor Hockey Association (OMAHA) playoffs, the SOMHA will be well-represented when provincial championships take place this weekend.
On Monday, Jamie, on left, a goalie with the Midget Rep team, Trey, in middle, a member of the Peewee Rep Junior Coyotes, and Jack, on right, who plays with the Bantam Rep team, were out in the sun shooting around, and preparing for the provincials.
The Midgets are off to Dawson Creek, the Bantam’s to Port Hardy and the Peewees to the Kitimat/Terrace area this weekend. All three hope to bring a provincial title back to Oliver.
Watch this weeks Chronicle for a feature story on the Fortune family and their hockey travels across the province.
