BC Wildfire Service crews have almost completely extinguished a small wildfire sparked Saturday near Osoyoos.

The lightening-caused fire is burning east of Mount Kruger near the South Okanagan Grasslands Protected Area, roughly two kilometres west of Osoyoos

Currently burning at 0.01 hectares, the fire is expected to be suppressed by the end of the day, said Fire Information Officer Rachel Witt.

“Crews were on it yesterday after it was discovered and they were able to hit it pretty hard.”

With today’s cooler temperatures and low wind speeds working in fire crew’s favour, Witt said the fire is spot sized and very small.
