Southern Okanagan Secondary School in Oliver has fallen in its second game at the BC High School Okanagan Zone Basketball Championships, being held in Kamloops.
After opening with a 73-50 victory over Pleasant Valley in its opening game Thursday of the Valley’s, the Hornets lost in a dog fight to Fulton 69-55 Friday.
SOSS had a four-point half-time lead, but let it let slip away in the second half.
The Hornets trailed by 17 points, but clawed their way back to within five late in the fourth, only to make a few bad decisions late with some costly turnovers hurting the team.
The Hornets will need to recoup today, Saturday, if they have any chance of qualifying for the provincials.
SOSS needs to win its next two game, and hope that Fulton wins the final. That scenario would allow the Hornets to challenge the loser of the A final. However, Fulton needs to win the final for SOSS to have any chance of moving on.
Good luck Hornets!
