The Governor General of Canada has recognized a recent graduate of Southern Okanagan Secondary School for his academic achievements.

Matthew Tester from Oliver has been awarded the Top Academic Medal. It was presented to him on Friday, Aug. 22 by school administrators Marcus Toneatto and Tracy Harrington.

Tester’s grade point average this year was approximately 95 per cent. The 18-year-old plans to study medicine in hopes to become a specialist in the field of neurology.
