Oliver firefighters quickly responded to a small grass fire in front of Greg Norton’s property on Willowbrook Road on Tuesday afternoon.
Captain Steve Nemeth said they suspect the fire started near the roadway, possibly from a cigarette. That’s how dry it is out there.
Some local residents were on scene using a garden hose prior to firefighters arriving. The blaze was quickly contained before it could spread to nearby structures.
People are urged not to throw cigarettes out of their windows while driving because of the hazardous conditions.
