The Oliver Parks & Recreation Society is pleased to announce that Carol Sheridan has been hired as the new parks and recreation manager.

She was the successful candidate after a recruitment process over the past month.

The process was initiated because current manager Bob Grant announced his retirement effective in October of this year.

Grant has managed Oliver’s parks and recreation function for the past 14 years.

“His tireless efforts to serve our community by managing the Oliver Parks and Recreation facilities and ensuring they remain a showcase in our community will be missed,” said society chair Shiela Lange.

However, she noted the society has every confidence that Sheridan will bring the same effectiveness as well as a young and innovative perspective to the position.

“Carol has become familiar with our facilities and community while working for the society as the recreation manager responsible for programs,” Lange said.

She added the society looks forward to working with her as she takes on the additional responsibilities.
