This year’s basketball season came to an end on the weekend for the Osoyoos senior boys Rattlers when they lost two games at the Valleys zone playoffs in Barriere.

Although the Rattlers defeated Aberdeen Hall 61-59 on Friday, they lost 85-62 to Heritage Christian on Thursday and 101-81 to Kelowna Christian on Saturday.

Coach Casey Brouwer said a win in Saturday’s game would have given Osoyoos a chance to play for third place, allowing the team to advance to provincials.

As it turned out though, Kelowna Christian earned that third-place spot instead.

Finishing first was Similkameen Elementary Secondary School from Keremeos, followed by Heritage Christian in second.

“The guys played an incredible game,” said Brouwer, referring to their Saturday loss to Kelowna Christian. “Kolby Wikene, Kavneer Dhaliwal and Justin Davis were all selected as MVPs.”

Brouwer said six members of this year’s team will not be returning next year, but some strong players on the junior boys team will be moving up.
