The RCMP is warning people about a scam making the rounds in the Osoyoos area.
Fraud artists claiming to represent Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) have been telling people they owe money, and if they don’t pay $750 right away, they could be arrested the following day.
Police advise people to confirm all information before sending money or paying bills, which could be fraudulent.
The RCMP is also warning people to be wary of fraudulent ads on Kijiji advertising rental properties in Oliver and Osoyoos.
The ad asks prospective renters to call a number where someone states that he is in Ohio due to a sick family member. The caller says if the renters send him deposit money he will send them the keys for the properties.
Police say this is a scam and is not true.
