A fire damaged a home on Oak Avenue this afternoon.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to a residence off Maple Street where a lot of smoke was emanating from the roof area.

Flames could be seen but they were extinguished.

Firefighters had to call the RCMP for assistance due to an agitated male on the property. It was also reported that a dog and cat were still in the building.

Fire Chief Bob Graham said there were no injuries. As for the cause, he said they suspect the fire started on the deck and worked its way into the roof.
