The ceremonial ribbon was cut and the Sugarlump quad chair began running as the Mount Baldy Ski Area officially re-opened to the public on Friday.
Cutting the ribbon was Fred Johnston, president of Baldy Capital Corporation, the company that plans to put the ski resort back on its feet. Also present were a number of local dignitaries including members of the business community, municipal officials and Chief Clarence Louie of the Osoyoos Indian Band.
With crisp snow and air and a blue sky, skiers enthusiastically got onto the lift to begin a day or a weekend of skiing. Some had been up already last Sunday when the resort opened for village residents only.
