The Osoyoos Secondary Senior Girls Volleyball team recently returned from an “unforgettable experience” at the Provincial Championships at Selkirk College in Castlegar, where they proudly represented their school and community, according to their coach, John Seminoff.

He went on to say the girls showcased “incredible skill and determination throughout the tournament,” which ultimately saw them finish 7th overall in the Province out of 16 teams during the Nov. 27-29, 2025 event.

After a solid season which saw them lead the rankings through much of the regular season, their pursuit of a Provincial Championship was derailed with a heartbreaking quarterfinal loss to a strong Bulkley Valley Christian team, a match that Seminoff noted could have propelled them into the medal rounds.

“Despite the setback, the team demonstrated resilience and composure, earning praise for their outstanding work ethic and sportsmanship both on and off the court.

Gemma Ferral was selected as a second team all-star, while London Jensen and Mariah Harder received honourable recognition.

“Participating in Provincials challenged the players to elevate their game, strengthened their teamwork, and created lasting memories. Their commitment to excellence was evident in every match, as they battled fiercely against some of the top teams in British Columbia,” Seminoff said of the Osoyoos squad.

Coaches and supporters alike noted how the team’s unity and perseverance reflected the true spirit of competitive athletics, he added.

Seminoff also noted that this achievement would not have been possible without the generosity of community supporters, many of whom stepped up at the last moment due to the short time frame for qualifying for the Provincials. “Your contributions made a tangible difference, enabling these athletes to experience a milestone event that will inspire them for years to come.

“On behalf of the Osoyoos Secondary Senior Girls Volleyball team: thank you for believing in our athletes and investing in school sports. Your support helped create an opportunity that will be remembered long after the final whistle,” an appreciative Seminoff expressed.
