The data is catching up to the new reality, but the South Okanagan saw an increases in real estate sales and active listings over March of last year.
The South Okanagan Real Estate Board (SOREB) reports that total sales in the South Okanagan increased by 12 per cent to 160 units sold in March compared to 142 total units sold during the same time last year.
March saw 1,803 total active listings, an increase of 5.3 per cent from last March’s 1,713 listings.
“While the data may not fully capture it, local market activity has cooled ahead of what should have been a spring bloom in light of the pandemic,” said SOREB President Lyndi Cruickshank.
“This will continue as we all adjust to a new normal, but in the meantime the need to assist buyers and sellers who were in the middle of the home buying or selling process is still a very real reality.”
Cruickshank said there those who are unable to wait out this situation and require the assistance of a real estate professional. She note that realtors are doing their part and using all measures to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus while serving the needs of clients.
